This renovation was a bespoke experience from start to finish. We brought to life the clients’ vision, keeping the best of the property’s period character while installing cutting-edge custom fittings. We personally sourced high-end local materials to reinvigorate the property’s traditional Victorian features in a contemporary Italian style.
In the bedrooms and study, we restored the Victorian windows and cornices, using traditional materials and methods, and sourced oak engineered floorboards throughout.
We maximised space and maintained a streamlined look throughout the property by fitting bespoke storage units. Wasted space beneath the stairwell was transformed into a hidden, floating utility room. A tailor-made library shelving unit added utility and a stylish focal point to the study. We designed a space-saving landing storage cupboard with recessed finger pools to blend effortlessly with the period features, alongside space-efficient bedroom wardrobes and cabinets.
In the bathrooms, we created a luxurious finish with hand-picked carrara marble. We kept the Victorian character alive within the state-of-the-art bathroom fittings – which include a bespoke wet room, custom design vanity units, and velux roof lights – by repurposing the original wooden door into a sliding pocket door into the mezzanine bathroom.
The basement was designed as the centerpiece of the property: an impressive space for the clients to entertain and relax. Through our structural steel work underpinning the basement extension, we were able to retain period features while creating an expansive space. We installed electric underfloor heating throughout and worked with the client to hand-source flooring slate from a local quarry. We collaborated with the client to design the finishing touches, including a custom, locally-sourced marble kitchen island, backlit glass mood lighting under the stairs, and a floating stainless steel ‘aeroplane wing’ staircase. The bespoke sliding glass door into the garden and the restored Victorian light-well window allow ample natural light into the basement, creating an open, airy feel.
Outdoors, we created a multi-level space with an excavated and levelled garden. We provided a understated garden oasis through the slate tiling, slatted trellis and custom-fitted garden furniture recessed into the flowerbeds, allowing the clients’ decorative vision to shine.
Alongside meticulous renovation of period features and creative design to the clients’ specification, we fully replumbed and re-wired the property. We provided the latest in smart home technology for the client’s ultimate ease, such as fully customisable light options and a wireless thermostat.
